This series of rings is a collaboration between Taryn Kneteman and myself, Alma Louise Visscher. The rings take cues from infrastructure, monoliths, and land art, scaled down to be palm-sized. The stones are from riverside sites previously host to gold, then coal, then gravel extraction. They are gathered, polished, and cast in place in bronze. These sculptures adorn the present moment, hold memories, and question the process of collecting, extracting, and valuing materials.

These rings were sold for Latitude 53’s fundraising event and exhibition Schmoozy in 2021.
