Circle in a Square

Circle in a Square, Indigo dyed cotton, metal poles, cement bases. Ten flags 54 x 29” each, 10' flag poles

Using the very familiar market of a tall advertising flag and replacing the flag with imagery referencing a cyanometer (a method to measure the blueness of the sky), a circle in a square examines the connection between people and the environment.  This temporary installation both defines limits and references notions of vastness and ubiquity.

This project was installed in Churchill Square as part of the 2016 Works Art and Design Festival with support from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Grant, and the Works Festival.
